Mind. Full. Less. Ness.

I am being charmed by the sounds of rain drops outside my reading room window.

At this rate, I’ll be asleep before I’m done here.

*******

I could use a nap.

My week nights of late have been broken up into two intervals.

Which find me wide awake at 3am until I can convince my brain that a few more hours of shut eye would be most beneficial.

I don’t know what my problem is.

I adore sleep; just recently, sleep doesn’t seem to be too keen on me.

*******

This morning was no different.

I woke early, couldn’t switch it off, so I went to work.

All good.

I got stuff done that needed tending.

Checkmark.

*******

Besides, the rain has been running steady since last night.

Not harsh, but constant like a beat.

And it’s getting a right ‘ole drenching out there.

It’s the kind of rain where the only thing water can do now is make puddles larger.

And I do like to play in puddles.

*******

I’ve written this before, and here I go again.

I am a HUGE fan of rain.

I’ve always been a water baby. Drinking it. Swimming in it. Walking in it. Even my Sign pours water.

But when Mother Nature turns on her faucet? Oh, that’s something else entirely.

My entire being reacts.

*******

I’m so involved with rain that I like being in the rain even when I’m immersed in water.

Raining at the beach? Yes please!

More so …

In my World?

There is nothing more self preserving than walking in the rain on a Summer day, and absolutely not caring.

Walking in the rain in a meadow by a river is my idea of a sublime moment of pure joy.

I’d even wager that how I feel about rain is as close to Nirvana as I’ll ever get.

*******

Unfortunately, it is not quite warm enough for that type of mind-full-less-ness abandon today.

Oh, sure, I’m a romantic … but I’m a realist too.

Where I live we are this close to getting more snow. Also, I live next to a busy intersection where screeching tires is the norm for that 4-way stop intersection that everyone ignores.

Combine cold weather, bad drivers, walking, and rain? Yeah, no, thank you.

*******

So, I’m happy to be a spectator.

And now that I’m done with work, I think I’ll take the next hour, curl myself up in a warm blanket on this oversized chair, and listen to the rain with my eyes closed for awhile.

*******

Happy Saturday.
