Carrying Cases

This weekend simply is not lasting.

Oh, sure, “they’ll” say it’s been a solid two days. But, to me, this weekend seems more like one day with a few extra hours sprinkled in for good measure.

I suspect hanging out at the office most of yesterday probably exacerbated this feeling.

Never mind.

Moving on …

It’s almost time to start looking for airline tickets again.

I am beyond excited to head back out. Especially now that I’ve done all the things I wanted to do since returning in March, or will do when I pop over to visit with my Mum. That’ll be first week of May.

This morning I was reminded by my suitcase that I need to buy a new suitcase.

The one I have has been wearing down, and this last trip a wheel bent inwards. I never knew how challenging it is to navigate a full suitcase with a wonky wheel through an airport. At one point, I considered picking it up and just hand carrying it.

Which sort of defeats the purpose of wheels in the first place.

So today I’ve been looking at suitcases.

And the style, make, material and infinite possibilities are making me realise just how I’ve owned the one I now must retire.

So long, in fact, that it looks like you have to look hard to get a case with just two wheels anymore. And why would you want two when you can rightly have four?

But it’s getting well into the afternoon and I’ve still not picked out a suitable comparable replacement for my once ‘ole reliable travelling companion.

I’m getting concerned that my foray into replacing my suitcase is going to rival my thrice abandoned effort to get a new car. Both of which I’ve had for over ten years. Both still in my possession.

Ugh, this is going to annoy me to no end if I’m still talking about this next week.

But it’s not all me getting in my own way.

When I did a search on Amazon for the highest customer rated suitcase, this one showed up first on the list:

American Tourister Star Wars Hardside Luggage with Spinner Wheels, R2D2, Carry-On 21-Inch

Now. Don’t get me wrong. I do so want a unique case for sure. And I do so appreciate Star Wars.

But combined?

Yeah, not so much.

So, I’m encountering a wee learning curve today with getting a new suitcase; very much akin to the one I run into every time I have to buy new jeans.

Am I well into a first world rabbit (excuse the reference on this day) hole problem here? Oh, you bet I am.

I’ll get there, though. It might be well into Monday before I do, but I’ll get there.

Happy Sunday, and a Blessed Easter.
